How does a claim work when a claim is filed for one term within a multi-term plan?
Updated 2 years ago | Frequently Asked Questions
A multi-term plan provides coverage for multiple school terms that begin and end while the policy is in effect. The maximum benefit limit at the time of purchase is per policy period, not per covered term. Should you need to withdraw from school during a covered term for a covered reason and need to file a claim, and this claim is approved, this claim reimbursement amount will be deducted from your benefit limit for the remainder of your policy coverage period. For example, if you purchase a multi-term plan that includes $50,000 worth of coverage, and you withdraw during the fall term and file a claim for total a of $30,000 in expenses, that leaves $20,000 left on the plan for the remainder of the plan period. If you then need to withdraw during another term, such as the spring or summer, you will only be eligible for reimbursement of the remaining $20,000 in coverage that is left on the multi-term plan you purchased.
